Coorg (Madikeri)

Coorg runs almost entirely on coffee, and a plantation homestay does more to show that than any single sight — most host families will walk you through the estate and explain the difference between arabica and robusta shade-grown under silver oak. Abbey Falls and Talakaveri, the river's symbolic source high in the hills, are the standard stops, along with Raja's Seat for sunset.

Madikeri town itself is small and unremarkable beyond its fort and a decent Friday market, so this is a trip built around the surrounding countryside rather than the town centre. Roads into the interior plantation areas are narrow and winding — factor in slower travel times than distance alone suggests.
